KALAPAWAI CAFE & DELI: Gethrod's Birthday Celebration

We're back to blogging again!!! Aloooooha :D This is a very very very very VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY LATE POST!!!! We apologize for not posting because we've been really busy for the past couple of months with school and work.
If you're looking for a place to bring your special someone, boyfriend/girlfriend, wife/husband, or just a friend to do some catching up and spend some quality time, THIS IS THE PLACE FOR YOU! The ambiance is so calm, nice, and relaxing. The staff are very friendly and very kind. This place maybe pricy but you will not regret eating here.

Please be WARNED:
This place is not for groups bigger than 6 because they only have tables set-up for 2, 4, & 6. So if you're planning to go bring your family of 7 & above, I strongly suggest you go to other restaurants because if you don't you have to seat separately and we don't want that.

When we got there, it wasn't that late at night but we had to wait for 40 minutes to be seated. We didn't  mind waiting since we really went to Kailua from Laie (A LONG SCARY RIDE because Geth was driving! Lol!) to just eat at Kalapawai. After waiting, we got seated and was given the menu. It was really hard to decide what to get since everything we read is yummy.

So here are the food that we order (Sorry I was not able to take a picture of everyone's food):

BRUSSEL SPROUTS
This is our (Raphael and Patricia) appetizer. I love the way the carmelized it with onions. It is INDEED cooked to perfection. It was not too salty or too sweet. Brussel Sprouts are really good appetizers.

FRITES
This is the small fries ordered by Newel and Kaye. The fries were definitely not to salty and not over cooked. Order this for your appetizer and you will never go wrong!

MAC & CHEESE
I love Mac & Cheese but for me this one is too ordinary. Its like monotone because there's no element of surprise or difference from the plain mac and cheese I buy at the grocery store.

KALAPAWAI'S SPECIAL STEAK OF THE NIGHT: RIB-EYE STEAK
THE STEAK WAS SOOOOOOOOOOO GOOD!!! Raphael ordered the steak cooked medium-well. The richness of the sauce was there. The steak was juicy and not dry and bloody. The steak was soft and chewy. The potato with onions side dish was perfect with the steak. You will never get tired of eating this steak.

SOUP DE LA MAREE
This is the food that I ordered. The soup was super spicy for my taste. However, when you eat the soup of this dish you would want to eat more. The garlic bread on top was perfect for the dish. The shrimp was not overcooked, the oysters and clams was tasty too. The richness of the taste of the soup was perfect to eat with the seafoods. I am not really a big fan of spicy foods but this dish was really good
