As a family tradition, Baguio will always be our hotspot when summer hits the Philippines. The Summer Capital of the Philippines is the "go to" place of almost everyone who lives in Luzon. The cold climate of the city relieves the heat brought by the tropical weather. During our visit with Rap's family last summer, we only had one day to visit Baguio and we decided to stay at Camp John Hay since it caters to activities such as paintball fight, zip lining, family picnic, camping and so much more.
I really appreciated the fact that the place wasn't too crowded when we went there. If you're planning a family picnic, don't hesitate to bring your own food because there are available tables around the area. You can also camp, however, you may want to inquire if there are certain fees you need to pay.
Camp John Hay is one of the places we will never miss to visit in Baguio when we were younger, especially when my grandfather (Papito) was still alive. I remember, before it became a major recreational tourist spot, Camp John Hay had a restaurant that our family used to visit for a major brunch family time. I used to order daing na bangus ang garlic rice for breakfast. Then, we, kids, will force our Papito to buy us Ice Cream that costs around 60pesos. Those were the days.... <3
Now, they added facilities that allow tourists to enjoy and see Camp John Hay more. The famous Tree Top Adventure in Baguio is located at Camp John Hay. This recreational spot offers different rides that will allow you to have an amazing view of the nature and the city. However, since we went there late, we weren't able to purchase a package because its sold out already. We were disappointed but, good thing they have so many fun activities to do at Camp John Hay.
We went to Paintball Extreme Republic Outdoor Adventure for our zip line experience. We wanted to try their Paintball activity but there were just five of us. Honestly, our zip line experience was disappointing. First of all, their zip line activity is really for first timers. The zip line isn't that long nor is it too high. We all thought that it will be at least more 100 meters but it was kinda MEEEEH for us. I actually got pissed off with one of their assistants because of his attitude. We needed to rappel to be able to go down. I was trying to compose myself before I start rappelling but, the assistant was pressuring me to rappel immediately despite me telling him that I just need to breathe in for a moment. Haaaaay!!! Waleeeeey!! Sumisigaw pa din kaya nakakaasar :( Anyway, Rap and I decided that we will no longer visit that place.
We didn't let that negative experience ruined our short trip soooooo, Rap bought us some ice cream! Nothing is more lovely than eating ice cream after a bad experience. Our Baguio trip topped our summer 2015 adventures. We are so happy that we had the chance to be with our families despite our never ending busy schedule. :)
